Buntingford Town 0 Sun Sports 2                        1959/60                                  HCL Div One

Sun's start was encouraging

A heartening start to the season was made by Sun Sports at Buntingford on Saturday, and if this form is maintained they should improve on their third place league placing of last year.
With several new players in the side it was good to see Sun settling down as quickly as they did and playing such cohesive football.
Mick O'Brien looks like being a good acquisition.
He was most reliable at centre half, and behind him Dave Pearson was on top of his job.
In the forward line wingers Williams and Wise had the right idea and got the ball across quickly and effectively.
It was not the day for the inside men to show what they could do, for on the hard pitch the light ball proved difficult to control.
They could have given better displays, however, had they attempted more shooting.
Even so, it was a shot from John Benning (Brother of the Watford winger) which led to Sun opening their account.
Benning's shot was not gathered by the Buntingford goalkeeper and Wise ran in to steer home the ball in the 18th minute.
Sun's class told after this and they had much more of the play.
They did not add to their score, however, until halfway through the second half, when Harry Seabrook made use of his speed to get to a Benning centre.
At this stage Buntingford were down to ten men and in consequence their goal scoring attempts
were confined to sporadic raids.
