Daily Mail 1 Sun Sports 4 1953/54 Natsopa Charity Shield Final
Sun Sports make post-war history
With this victory, on the "News Chronicle" ground at Morden, Sun Sports made post-war history by winning the Natsopa Charity Shield at their first attempt.
Sun made full use of the wind and slope in the first half and were two up through P Boyle and J Blackwell in 15 minutes.
For a short time, Sun were forced on the defensive, but it wasn't long before R Moulder put the farther ahead with a long range shot that dropped just below the crossbar, and this was followed by another success by Blackwell.
Although conditions were against the Sun in the second half, they retained command of the game except for about 15 minutes during which Daily Mail scored their consolation goal.
Sun Sports: E Harmer, J Blakeman, J Beech, F Walker, L Eldridge, R Moulder, J Blackwell, G Newstead, D Hathaway, P Boyle, E Cook.
