De Havilland (Hatfield) 2 Sun Sports 1                    1955/56                                    HCL Div 1

Sun out of luck at Hatfield

Sun were out of luck at Hatfield on Saturday. They had more than a fair share of the play yet had to acknowledge defeat.
The home side were a leg-weary crowd as they came of the pitch, and their victory they have to say a big thank you to a centre-half Hurcombe, who were their outstanding player.
After repelling the De Havilland first attack, Sun might of taken the lead when E Williams beat Dennis McCrystal, but the ball struck the bar.
Sun had a spell in the middle of this half when they peppered the De Havilland goal, but all to no avail, instead the home side went away to score in the 18th minute and 10 minutes later, the score went to 2-0 from the penalty spot.
Sun got quickly into their stride as the teams changed round without respite as half-time.
After seven minutes a penalty was awarded them for "hands", and although box hit the ball straight at the goalkeeper, he managed to follow up and sent it home from the rebound.
Except from a few very brief spells, Sun continued to dominate the match, but they were unable to score again.
