Fleetway Press 1 Sun Sports 2 1955/56 St Barts Printers Cup
Reverse didn't upset Sun
Back in the Greater London's Printers' competition after a season's absence, Sun Sports puled back from an early reverse to win on a treacherous pitch at New Malden.
Fleetway went ahead in the seventh minute, but Sun had the major portion of the play and their superior football pulled them round.
Half time came without reward, but in the second half, against the wind, they were more effective in front of goal and in the 52nd minute Phil Bass equalised with a great shot.
Fleetway's breakaways were always dangerous, but Sun were warming to the fray.
They had a goal disallowed in the 73rd minute, but two minutes later, the Sports had a penalty for hands, and skipper Roy Box put them into the lead.
Sun's goal had a narrow escape just before the end when Peter Storer lost a slippery ball but recovered in time.
Storer made three excellent saves, and Pat Boyle was very reliable at centre half.
