Sun Sports 3 Harpenden Town 4                      1955/56                                    HCL Div One

Sun lost that two goals lead

Sun got away to a good start and looked as if they would have a big win when, after only fifteen minutes, they were two goals to the good.
The first of these was scored by Bill Lamport when he ran in from the left wing to score with a good shot.
The second was scored by the inside right, who rounded off a run down the middle with a great shot.
Sun's wing halves were inclined to go too far up-field in the second half, and this, in some measure, accounted for the side's downfall, as the Harpenden right winger was consequently given more room.
He took advantage of this by laying on his side's first two goals.
With the scores level, a keen struggle ensued, but Harpenden enjoyed a good spell, during which time they took their tally to four.
Sun came back late in the game, and when a shot by Williams was dropped by the goalkeeper on his goal line, two Sun forward's bundled him over the line.
