Mirror Pictorial 2 Sun Sports 0                       1950/51                        St Barts Printers' Cup Final

Sun fail a second time

For the second successive year, Sun Sports failed at the last hurdle to emulate their performance of two season's ago in winning the St. Barts Printers' Cup.
And once again their conquerors were Mirror Pictorial.
At Selhurst Park, Sun's short passing game did not pay and Mirror Pictorial, adapting themselves better to a worn and muddy pitch, reaped their reward.
They took the lead after 25 minutes, when Butcher scrambled cross from the left wing into the net, and although Sun fought back, their policy of wanting to walk the ball into the net brought no results.
Sun had the greater part of the play in the second half, but Mirror packed their goal and did it so effectively that Sun just could not find a way through.
When Mirror broke away, they caught the Sun defence too far forward and hull gave them their second goal.
