Sun Sports 1 Bishops Stortford Reserves 3                  1950/51                       HCL Div One

Story with a moral

The moral of this game was "It's goals that count".
Bishops Stortford were lucky to win.
Sun did a large percentage of the attacking, but chances were lost.
Five minutes after the start the visitors went ahead, and midway through the first half they added to this.
Twenty minutes after the restart the Sun were yet a third goal behind. Nevertheless, they kept up prolonged pressure and Maley reduced the leeway.
Shot after shot was rained on the Stortford goal, but their keeper was not again beaten.
He had a busy afternoon compared with Powell in the Sun goal.

Sun Sports 1 Harpenden Town 5                             1950/51                         HCL Div One

Sun faded near goal

Sun Sports outplayed Harpenden for more than half this game, but had to admit defeat because of the difference in the two teams near goal.
After being on the defensive for the first ten minutes, Harpenden took advantage of a defensive error to open the scoring and added a second goal before half time.
Sun gave the Harpenden defence a gruelling time after the interval, but their own defence was caught spread-eagled and a third goal fell to Harpenden,
Leach replied for the Sun, but in the last ten minutes the Town added two goals to take their score to five.
