Sun Sports 2 De Havilland Propellers 4 1956/57 HCL Premier
Pace was too hot for Sun
Two goals up at half time, Sun did not stand the pace in the second half, and in the end , were well beaten by De Havilland Propellers, who had one of their forwards injured throughout the second period.
Both sides had escapes in the early stages: Sun had a goal disallowed and on another occasion a shot which had beaten the Prop's goalkeeper was cleared off the line.
Eventually a good movement brought success for Lawton.
Sun added a second goal in the 43rd minute when, with a flying header, Ken Noble converted a cross from O'Doherty.
The visitors shook Sun within five minutes of the resumption, and in the 56th minute the sides were level.
A further six minutes and Props had taken the lead.
Two minutes from the end they consolidated their position with a further goal.
