Sun Sports 2 Park Street 1 1951/52 Herts Under 16 Cup Final
Sun checked Mid-Herts scoring machine - Won
With 28 victories out of 29 matches, and a goal scoring record that was almost too good to be true, Park Street, Mid-Herts Minors' Division Two champions, journeyed to Kings Langley on Saturday in quest of the County Under 16 Cup.
They went away without it because their first time passing approach petered out in front of goal, and Sun's Bob Margrave had such a command of the middle.
The occasion seemed too big for both teams, and what promised on paper to be a good game produced only intermittent cohesive periods.
There was a controversial incident midway through the second half, when Williams forced the Park Street keeper over the line.
The referee waved play on, but as it happened Sun won without this goal.
Barber scored a fine goal a minute after the restart, and after Figg equalised, Willis added a second for the Sun from a free kick.
Largest portion of the credit for the winners' success goes to Margraves who was quite outstanding.
Willis played well, but like most of the forwards, he had obviously left his shooting boots behind.
Sun Sports: P Storer, B Kinsey, R Collins, B Brandford, R Margrave, C Brown, E Williams, P Bass, P Kenny, T Willis, T Barber.
