Sun Sports 2 Welwyn Garden City Reserves 1 1954/55 HCL Div One
Three in the first half
All three goals in this Division one encounter were scored in the first half, and the reason for this, and Sun not winning by as big a margin as they have done recently, can be traced back to the absence throughout the second half of Fred Walker.
On a slippery pitch Sun made numerous openings early in the game but it was not until the 20th minute that they were rewarded.
Then F Bass worked his way out to the right and laid on a pass which E Williams accepted with a first time shot.
Welwyn replied with a successful attack even if their goal had a semblance of luck about it, the ball being deflected by a Sun defender.
Sun regained their lead five minutes from the interval through D Hathaway.
Sun did well to hold their own in the second half.
