Colney Heath 2 Sun Sports 0 1960/61 HCL Prem
Sun's first defeat
Sun Sports suffered their first defeat of the season at Colney Heath on Saturday, but there was no disgrace in that.
For all but seventeen minutes they were without key man wing half Dave Barton, who was carried off with cartilage trouble.
Before the end of the match Dave was in Watford Peace Memorial Hospital awaiting an operation.
His injury was bad luck for both himself and Sun, hitherto, he has been one of the strengths of the side.
In view of their misfortune, Sun did very well indeed to lose by only two goals...and the second of those did not arrive until thirteen minutes from the end.
Sun were set to face the stiff breeze in the first half, but this did not appear to deter them.
Play was of the end to end variety and either side might have gone ahead.
As it was the privilege fell to Colney Heath in the sixteenth minute when a shot from their left winger slipped out of the hands of Derek Haines.
Despite the misfortune which followed a minute later, Sun gave a good account of themselves and they caused some consternation in the home defence before Colney Heath finally settled the issue with their second goal.
