Sun Sports 1 Bovingdon 2 1960/61 HCL Prem
No day for the 'keepers
Three goalkeeping blunders led to three goals, and as two of the mistakes were made by Cliff Langley (It was not his day!) Sun suffered a shock defeat.
But it was not only good fortune that gave Bovingdon their success.
They earned a good deal of credit by fighting their way back in the second half when all seemed lost.
Sun played the better football in the first half, but after having a sixth minute "goal" by Terry Clark disallowed, their finishing deteriorated, although Peter Simmonds grabbed an unexpected goal with a 20 yard shot after 16 minutes.
Bovingdon pressed hard for the equaliser and after Rogers obtained it they realised that they had victory within their grasp, although few thought that Norman's speculative shot four minutes from the end would produce the winning goal.
