Express Newspapers 3 Sun Sports 0              1953/54                        St Bart's Printers Cup Final

Sun well beaten in final

Finalists five times since the war, and winners once, Sun made their third visit to Selhurst Park on Thursday evening.
However they did not produce the form they had shown in the earlier rounds, and Express Newspapers carried off the valuable printing trade trophy with a clear three goal win.
Sun played well enough to deserve a consolation goal, but their defence had a lot to do towards the end.
At this stage, right back Bob Barnett did some great work.
Play was even in the early period, but after 31 minutes events took a turn in favour of the Express, a penalty decision giving F Boatwright a chance to score from the spot.
Within four minutes P Donovan scored a second goal.
Sun switched three men after the interval and some improvement resulted.
Twice they hit the woodwork, and a goal at this period might well have turned the tide.
However, at 75 minutes a third goal by V Johnson put the result beyond Sun's reach.
