Sun Sports 3 Esavians 3 1953/54 HCL Div One
Sun led three times - drew
Thrice in the lead, a below form Sun could do no better than share the spoils, but not through any merit of the visitors, but rather through defensive lapses.
The slippery ball proved difficult to control at the start, but allowing for this Sun looked the more purposeful side and they were rewarded in the ninth minute when Fred Walker took the ball up for Peter Watt to score with a twenty yards drive.
Esavians' big clearances often found their wingers and it was these outside men who threatened danger on a number of occasions.
Once Barnett cleared off the line, the equalise, in the 43rd minute, was somewhat unexpected, coming as it did from a speculative long range shot which caught Harmer too far out of his goal.
Play was scrappy in the second half.
In the 63rd minute, B Kenny put the Sun into the lead again but this was negated ten minutes later.
In a further eleven minutes Kenny again scored and the game looked in the bag.
But a few minutes from time, Esavians right winger broke away to score his second goal and level the scores
