Sun Sports 1 Tabulators 3                      1958/59                                           HCL Div One

Sun hopes take a tumble

The death knell tolled for Sun's championship hopes on Saturday when they lost a re-arranged match against the Division One leaders, Tabulators, at Parkside Drive.
It might have been a different story had Sun been at full strength and had their goalkeeper, Colin Davis, not pulled a muscle in his leg.
Without really dominating the play, the visitors gave the Sun defenders plenty to think about in the first half and succeeded in crossing over in the lead, thanks to a headed goal by Hodge, scored in the 18th minute.
Sun faced up to injury to Davis manfully, and for the first 20 minutes of the second half were on top.
Good approach work, however, was not rounded off with comparable shooting except in the case of one shot by Rodney Palmer, which brought an equaliser.
This reverse upset Tabulators and Sun should have pressed home the initiative, they failed to do so and the visitors settled down and took their tally to three.
