Although they deserved their win, Sun were not at their best in a patchy game.
They went close in the first minute when Phil Bass had a shot stopped by the goalkeeper, and nearly scored again soon afterwards, a defender kicking clear from the goal line.
Their first goal came after 38 minutes, when Willis headed home a corner by Lamport.
Saffron Walden were soon on the defensive in the second half, but play went on to 57 minutes before a goal looked likely, and then another goal line clearance kept Sun out.
Williams got Sun's second goal in the 70th minute and although Walden had a share of attacking, Sun's defenders did not give much away.
