Sun reach printer's semi final
Sun Sports have reached the semi final of this Greater London football competition for printing and allied trades, and although Danes put up a good fight, there was seldom much doubt about it.
Sun faced a strong wind in the first half, but they did not give Danes a chance to settle down into an effective combination.
After five minutes C Stevens hit the post, and ten minutes later he opened the scoring with a good 20 yards shot from a centre by K Noble.
Noble also had a hand in the second goal, which came after 25 minutes.
He put over a low cross and J Carpenter dived to head it in.
The second half was even more favourable for the home team.
A few minutes after the restart, J Blakeman took the ball upfield and G Newstead converted his high pass into a third goal.
It was another 30 minutes before the next goal came, but it was worth waiting for.
Ron Brooks placed the ball nicely for Newstead to net first time from 30 yards.
Although Danes reinforced their defence with forwards, and packed the goalmouth with their attack, they could not keep the home side out.
After 68 minutes K Noble hit the crossbar, the ball rebounded and Stevens breasted it into the net.
Then, with five minutes left for play, Newstead completed his hat-trick, scoring from outside the penalty area.
